“Watch us. Us kids may only be 25% of the worlds population, but we are 100% of the future.”
– Melati & Isabel at TEDGlobal, London
Our students Melati and Isabel, founders of the Bye Bye Plastic Bags initiative, received a standing ovation after they nailed their presentation at the TEDGlobal London a couple weeks ago. With confidence, they shared their mission to rid plastic bags from Bali in front of hundreds international attendees.
“Bye Bye Plastic Bags reached and rocked the TED Global stage! Being able to say that is an incredible feeling. I mean, BBPB started as an idea around the dinner table, we had no idea it would reach this huge! Three years ago, we were on a stage with scripts in our hands, and crazy nerves racking through our shaking body as we presented on stage. Since then we have learned and grown as a team, as sisters, and as individuals. Bye Bye Plastic Bags has a story that we believe is worth sharing, we want to inspire the youth – the leaders of this world. Talks like the INK talk and TED talk have helped us reach the international crowd, and for that, the Bye Bye Plastic Bags team is forever thankful.“ – Melati Wijsen.
The official video from TEDGlobal will be up soon; but meanwhile, support them by signing their petition online!
