A core mission of Green School is to nurture a community of learners that supports each other and the environment, now and in the future. As an integral part of the local community, our school strive to strengthen the connection with our local people in Sibang Kaja and beyond through the Local Scholar Programme and the Kul Kul Connection.

The Local Scholar Programme, our first community empowerment initiative, was founded in 2008 by John and Cynthia Hardy. The programme initially supports 19 local students when the school started. And now, 27 full time students (8% of enrollments) are enrolled at the school through the scholarship programme.

Five scholars have graduated in the past three years and we are seeing them reaching for their dreams around the world. This is how we, as a community, make our effort in creating leaders of tomorrow. To support the Indonesian scholars is to make our School and our world a better, more sustainable place.

Our goal now is to open more opportunities for local students to enroll in the programme, and next year, we are hoping to see 10 additional scholarship students. It’s still a long way to go, but we are confident that by joining our hands together as a community, we will make it happen.

We believe the future of this country and the world depend on having young people educated and challenged to be creative, innovative, green leaders.

Take a minute of your time to watch a video of Rinka, one of our youngest scholar in grade 1.

A heart-felt thank you to everyone who have supported our Local Scholars Programme.
